World Map for Cordolium

You know what every good fantasy series needs?

Maps.

Maps , maps, and more maps!

As a lover of dungeons and dragons maps and fantasy maps, at some point I created an actual map for the world of Kalon, the setting of the story of Emma and Oron.

The world is made up of thirteen great cities; massive metropolitan nests for humanity that are protected by massive walls of stone and steel. Only the great cities are guarded by the sturdy walls. When each of the cities went to build their walls, groups of wealthy families agreed to fund the construction in exchange for long-term recognition and protection. Those generous families became the noble houses in each of the great cities. Massive roads and highways carved into the landscape connect the cities and allow for travel and trade.

Beyond the walls of safety are the wildlands. Unclaimed, untamed, wild landscapes littered with the ruins and remains of fallen cities, towns, and the ashes of any who dared to venture out unprotected. There are no laws in the wildlands other than the law of survival. For there are threats more dangerous that bandits and robbers. The creatures known as daemons lurk in the dark woods just beyond the highways between cities.

Interspersed between the great cities of Kalon are a collection of small towns and villages. These small clusters of civilization are free from the stifling control of noble families but also lack the protection of the great walls. Many who live in these towns know that they live in danger of attracting daemons. Still, they deem the risk worth it to live the simple lives outside of the city walls.

The story of Cordolium starts just outside of the great city of Ena Larisa in the west. Emma and Oron are both from the city of La Rezza, but had ventured to Azul Hallow before the incident that sent them to Ena Larisa to recover.
