Writing Progress Check - 2023 Recap
In the world of writing, I continued to spend most of my time focusing on the world of Cordolium and the other books in that series. To better chart my progress, I tracked my daily writing word counts and compiled all the data at the end of the year to see how far I have come.
Over the course of the year of 2023, I wrote a total of 129, 704 words. My best months were June and July, where together I wrote over 50,000 words. My best day was Sunday, June 9th, where I wrote 3713 words.
In truth, I only managed to write on 90 days. Life and work consumed a lot of days, limiting my time. Still, I averaged roughly 1441 words. Some days were more, some days were less.
2023 was a busy year. Both personally and for writing!
In my personal life, I sold my house and moved in with my girlfriend. I am planning to use the money from the sale to pay off my student loans and then save the rest for our future home together.
And we got our dog, Thor! He’s a rescue from up north. It took a while for him to feel comfortable in such a new space, but he bonded to us very quickly. He is learning to play and enjoy life. Now if only we could get him to let us trim his nails.
Looking at the breakdown of the year, it’s easy to see when the school year took precedent in life. April was my school’s musical, so most of my free time was spent in the theatre. May was the end of the school year. So, that means, exams, grades, banquets, concerts, all the fun stuff. June and July was my summer, but August through October was the start of the new year and our fall play.
